About ConvertCove

ConvertCove is a small, independent file converter with one rule: your files stay on your device.

Who builds it

I’m Tom Becker, a media engineer based in Denver, Colorado. For more than ten years I have worked on image and video pipelines: resizing services for publishers, upload flows for photo apps, and a lot of late-night debugging of colour profiles and odd TIFF files.

One thing kept bothering me. Whenever friends or colleagues needed to turn an iPhone photo into a JPG or a spreadsheet into JSON, they would upload it to whichever converter came first in search results. Family photos, contracts, customer exports. Modern browsers can do this work locally, so I built a converter that does exactly that.

How ConvertCove is run

  • No uploads. Conversions run in your browser using open-source codecs. See how it works.
  • No accounts, limits or watermarks. Since your device does the work, there is nothing to meter.
  • No tracking scripts. The site has no ads and no third-party analytics.
  • Only what works. A format appears on the site when its conversion has been tested end to end with real files. Formats that are not ready are simply not listed.

Corrections and requests

If a file does not convert the way you expect, or a format you need is missing, please get in touch. Bug reports with a sample file (one you are happy to share) are the fastest way to get something fixed.
