Some tools, templates and print workflows insist on PNG, and editors often prefer a lossless file so repeated saves do not add new artefacts. Convert your JPGs to PNG here in one batch, entirely on your device.
How to convert JPG to PNG
- Click Select JPG files or drag them onto the box above. You can add as many as you like.
- Check that the target says PNG. Click the slider icon next to a file to change its options.
- Press Convert. Each file shows its own progress, and the work happens on your device.
- Download files one by one, or use Download all (ZIP). Press Convert more to start a new batch.
For a website, converting JPG to PNG makes pages slower. Use JPG to WebP or JPG to AVIF when the goal is the web.
JPG vs PNG
What is JPG?
JPG is the everyday photo format: small, lossy and universal. Each time a JPG is edited and saved again, it is recompressed and loses a little more detail. More about the JPG format.
What is PNG?
PNG is a lossless format with optional transparency. Once an image is in PNG, you can save it as often as you like without it degrading further. More about the PNG format.
| JPG | PNG | |

When to convert JPG to PNG
- A platform, template or app requires PNG uploads.
- You are about to make several rounds of edits and want to stop generational JPEG loss.
- You plan to remove the background and need a format that can hold transparency afterwards.
- You are preparing images for a game engine, slide template or documentation tool that works in PNG.
Quality and settings
Converting does not improve the photo: any blockiness or blur already in the JPG stays there, but it will not get worse. Expect the PNG to be 3–8× larger than the JPG. The output has no transparent areas until you edit it; PNG simply makes transparency possible. If you only need a lossless editing copy temporarily, convert back to JPG once you have finished.
