What is a GZ file?
gzip was written by Jean-loup Gailly and Mark Adler in 1992 as a free replacement for the Unix compress tool. A .gz file contains exactly one compressed file, often a log, a database dump or a TAR archive.
ConvertCove decompresses .gz files in the browser. If the content turns out to be a TAR archive, its files are extracted as well.
