What is a CSV file?
CSV (comma-separated values) stores a table as plain text: one record per line, fields separated by a delimiter. RFC 4180 (2005) describes the common conventions, including double quotes around fields that contain commas, quotes or line breaks.
Despite its simplicity, CSV is messy in practice. European Excel uses semicolons, some tools use tabs, and encodings vary. ConvertCove detects the delimiter, handles quoted fields and reads UTF-8 with or without a byte-order mark. TSV files (.tsv) are accepted too.
